Artist Teresa Widdowson

New Look 6525-1.jpg

Teresa Widdowson has been drawing since she learned how to pick up a pencil. In her younger years most of her art techniques were learned from reading books and examining other artists’ works. In her first paintings she used oils, and concentrated on landscapes and still lifes. As an adult she’s attended several oil, acrylics and watercolor classes to expand her knowledge and work with new mediums.

She has an affinity for bold and vibrant colors using quick, broad strokes to develop her impressionistic pieces.  Her paintings reflect her vivacious and fun personality, and her favorite subjects are those that are unique and unexpected. Some of her favorite pieces are Immersion, Red Dress, and Pigeon in Rusted Door. Some of the most influential painters to her work are Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet and Edgar Degas and modern artists such as Leonid Afremov, Emma Hesse, Nicoletta Ceccoli, Lena Rivo and Catrin Well-Stein.

Over the years Teresa has tried her hand at many mediums including watercolors, colored pencil, gouache and both chalk and oil pastels, but oils and acrylics are what she reaches for the most. She also enjoys creating junk journals which are works of art all on their own.

“I want to create art that is colorful, creative, imaginative and simply fun to explore.”
